6 Tips for Managing Multiple Sclerosis

Keep cool

Many MS patients report that their symptoms get worse when their body temperature rises. Anything from hot or humid weather to a fever to a hot bath can lead to an increase in body temperature. As such, MS patients must take steps to stay cool:

  • Stay in air-conditioned areas when it’s too hot and humid outside.
  • Use oscillating fans indoors.
  • Use products that keep you cool during exercise or activity. Such products may include neck wraps, vests, bandanas, etc.
  • Wear lightweight, breathable clothing.
  • Drink cold beverages for temporary relief.
  • Swim in cool pools
