Bathroom Safety Tips

Slipping in the Shower

Anyone can slip in the shower, but the elderly, children and those who have suffered a stroke are the most likely groups to experience a fall. According to the American Stroke Association (ASA), falls are less likely to happen while getting in and out of a shower than a bathtub. If you do take a bath, use a bath bench or handles for easy access in and out of the tub. To avoid slipping in the shower, use a bath mat with suction cups and non-skid strips. According to the ASA, poor lighting can be responsible for falls in the bathroom. So make sure your shower is well lit before you hop in.
