Breaking Down Food: Vitamins Explained

Vitamin K

Why Is It important? Vitamin K is needed to help blood clot — wounds wouldn’t heal without it. Because of its role in the blood, people taking blood thinners may need to be careful about how much vitamin K they eat. Some studies suggest it may also boost bone strength.

Foods: The body makes vitamin K in the stomach, but the vitamin can also be found in leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli or cabbage.
