Halloween Safety

HalloTween

Children 12 and younger shouldn’t be out alone on Halloween. Even if your kids are old enough to head out by themselves, be aware of their route and where they’re going. Make you sure to go over the rules with them — never go inside a strange house, stay in a group, check your candy before eating it, put away phones when crossing the street and only go to homes with their porch lights on, among others. Before they leave the house, ensure their phones are charged or they have change in case they need to call you. For older kids headed to a party, discuss the dangers of underage drinking and drinking and driving. New drivers should be reminded to drive extra carefully and slowly on Halloween to avoid accidents with pedestrians. You could even consider offering to be their ride for the night.
