How to Eat Like a Champion During Football Season
Pizza nutrition facts differ from slice to slice depending on the toppings but, no matter what toppings you choose, a smaller slice will always amount to fewer calories consumed. On average, a slice of pizza contains anywhere between 125 to 370 calories. Consider choosing a whole wheat, thin crust pizza for a healthier bite. And if you must have top your slice with processed meats and extra cheese, cutting the slice in half to give you all the flavor — without taxing your waistline! If you want to keep the slice size, consider changing up the toppings you put on it. Traditional meat toppings and extra cheese equals a slice higher in fat, calories and sodium. So why not try something new? Instead of using whole milk cheese, try topping your pizza with a sharp, salty cheese like feta. Consider switching up the sauce too. A sauce with red chile pepper flakes gives pizza a spicy kick, and chili peppers contain a compound called capsaicin, which can reduce inflammation. And for a seriously healthy slice, remember to load your pizza with on as many veggies as you can. Some great options include spinach, zucchini, fresh corn, plum tomatoes, sweet potato and asparagus.
