Stars with Diabetes

For over a decade now, Mary Tyler Moore has served as the international chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). In this position, she has used her stardom to raise money and awareness for type 1 diabetes, which is often overlooked, as it only makes up around 5 percent of diabetes cases. In honor of her dedication to the foundation, JDRF created the “Forever Moore” research initiative, which focuses on funding research on treatments for type 1 diabetes. Going beyond diabetes, Moore co-founded the Broadway Barks charity, which promotes pet adoption, and has hosted events for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS campaigns.
