Summer Food Safety Tips
The USDA recommends serving right off the grill, and using a clean platter or plates. Never put cooked food on the same platter that held raw meat or poultry, as harmful bacteria present in the raw meat juices may contaminate cooked food. When everyone has their fill, refrigerate any leftovers promptly in shallow containers. Discard any food left out more than two hours, and one hour if temperatures are above 90°F. When you’re ready to eat your leftovers, fully-cooked meats — like hot dogs — should be regrilled or reheated to 165°F or until steaming hot before serving again.
